CD project: cover, poster, and discs
For this project, I utilized photography and type to execute a newly designed “Plastic Beach” album by the Gorillaz. The concept was manmade vs. natural, alluding to the title. I used simple type, all lowercase, and paid close attention to the composition of each image I took of my crystals for type placement and treatment. I wanted this piece to meet somewhere in the middle of an otherworldly feel and a modern look, and pay homage to the techno sounds of the iconic album.

Each of these images were captured via my Canon Rebel T5.
I shot a rose quartz rock (front cover), labradorite rock (back cover), varying stones (CD 1), a slab of labradorite (CD 2), aragonite (CD 3) and a slab of labradorite for the poster image.
The poster repeating the type “Electric-tric-tric” is a reference to lyrics repeating from the song “Rhinestone Eyes” within the album.
